dough

dough people knotted off to sleep
after stretching twenty miles
they fill up yellow beats
with light caked in their eyes
a blue, beloved warm i touch
and carry everywhere
you open up your eyes
and share your sheets of joy and sun
i watched you tend to life outside and shine to see it sprout
send the names of everyone, i'd like to meet them all
a tarp drapes over me, my body blanketed from view
my knees tuck under and rock me back and forth to rest aloof
but in the silence there is color and a fire hearth
a light takes hold of me and i cannot stay in the dark
i walk around the yard with you
to see the forest and the pond
we walk across the ridge and home
home

unravel
03:14
|

you sit and watch from the side
and walk ahead in my style
you've got some thinking to do
not well on the inside
you've got to follow me
i'm happier when i lead
i can be what i want
i can be who you need
and this time, i'll be well
and this time, i'm okay
expose my soul from all sides
a funny act in decline
take your turn and take the lead
i'll settle here, a chance to breathe
and i can't be what i want
and i can't be everything
and i can't be who you need
i am simply breathing
and this time, not again
